I feel like my summary kind of says it all. This book was remarkable. Oliver does a great job getting you hooked on and interested in the topic of why we believe what we do about food, weight and health in our country and what the prevailing influences have been on us.

The book has thorough citations which makes it possible to read the studies in question, and it really doesn't take any guff from anybody. In fact, in the intro, Oliver says that he began this book expecting to talk about the obesity epidemic but eventually realized that that epidemic was manufactured and then wrote his back on the way it came to be made a big deal.

Great book and so important for anyone who just foolishly says, "We're fatter and lazier than ever and that's creating a health crisis." (Posted on 9/17/09)
